Finance Transformation Consultant (Freelance Contract)

Working Pattern: 3 days onsite in Mechelen, 2 days hybrid/remote

The Assignment
We are looking for a Finance Transformation Consultant to support a key finance transformation initiative for a client based in Mechelen. This role sits at the intersection of finance, business partnering, and process improvement, helping bridge the gap between finance teams, business controllers, and transformation stakeholders.
The successful consultant will play a hands-on role in improving financial processes, supporting consolidation and reporting activities, and contributing to the implementation and optimisation of finance systems and tools.
Key Responsibilities
- Support ongoing finance transformation projects and strategic finance initiatives.
- Act as a key liaison between finance teams, business controllers, and project stakeholders.
- Support the enhancement and utilisation of EPM and consolidation platforms.
- Work closely with finance and IT teams to improve data quality, reporting capabilities, and process efficiency.
- Provide regular project updates and recommendations to the Finance Transformation Team Manager.
Required Experience
- 3-7 years of experience within finance transformation, finance projects, business controlling, FP&A, financial controlling, or related finance functions.
- Strong understanding of finance processes, management reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis.
- Experience working within project-based or transformation-focused environments.
- Exposure to financial consolidation processes and reporting structures.
- Proven ability to communicate effectively with senior finance stakeholders and business controllers.
- Experience working in international and cross-functional teams.
Preferred Technical Skills
Highly Desirable
- OneStream experience.
- SQL knowledge, including the ability to write, review, or interpret SQL queries.
- Exposure to finance system implementations or optimisation projects.
Nice to Have
- Experience with EPM platforms such as OneStream, SAP BPC, Oracle Hyperion, Oracle FCCS, Anaplan, Board, or IBM Planning Analytics (TM1).
- Knowledge of consolidation tools and financial reporting systems.
- Interest in or exposure to AI-driven finance solutions, automation, or advanced analytics.
- Understanding of data integration and finance data models.
