Finance Business Partner

Key Responsibilities:

Serve as a lead financial advisor to senior leaders and management teams within the business, offering expert guidance on financial management matters. Foster strong working relationships to support strategic portfolios and facilitate effective financial planning and decision-making, particularly during periods of significant change and restructuring. Present complex financial scenarios in an accessible manner to enable clear understanding of current status and future implications.

Support, challenge, and influence management teams in identifying and implementing changes aimed at improving financial efficiency and performance. Offer strategic financial insight to help achieve organisational goals, and ensure communication of financial information is tailored to both finance and non-finance audiences to enhance decision-making.

Provide expert advice on the revenue and capital implications of business cases, projects, or proposed changes, ensuring outcomes are clearly communicated and understood. Promote best practices in financial management and contribute to the delivery of the organisation’s finance strategy.

Build and maintain collaborative relationships with fellow Finance Business Partners to deliver a cohesive service to senior stakeholders. Participate in rotational assignments across different business areas, contributing financial expertise to new initiatives as needed.

Contribute to the development of strategic management practices, policy formation, and business planning through expert advice on budgeting, resource planning, financial reporting, and internal controls. Identify opportunities for efficiency, develop innovative financial solutions, and ensure compliance with all financial regulations and accounting standards.

Support financial planning, reporting, and performance monitoring activities by identifying, developing, and reviewing proposals for savings and investments that align with the organisation’s strategic goals. Collaborate directly with senior leaders and budget holders during the annual budgeting process and throughout the financial year.

Participate in key strategic meetings and project boards, offering financial insight to support operational effectiveness and alignment with strategic priorities.

Take ownership of in-year revenue and capital monitoring, producing timely and accurate financial reports for senior leadership. Enhance financial reporting to provide deeper insights, supporting informed decision-making and strong budgetary control.

Advise on financial aspects of contract management, negotiations, and changes related to large-scale, complex projects, ensuring sound financial stewardship and compliance.

Qualifications:

  • Full professional qualification (CCAB or equivalent – Level 7 diploma/master’s degree level).

  • Minimum of one year’s post-qualification experience demonstrating effective delivery of responsibilities as outlined in this role.
