Temporary Environmental Health Officer (EHO) – Environmental Protection
Location: Lancashire (Council‑based role)
Contract Length:Â 6Â months
Hours: Full‑time, 37 hours per week
Start: May 2026
We are currently seeking an experienced Environmental Health Officer (EHO) to join our Environmental Protection Team on a temporary basis. This role will cover a busy seasonal period and support service delivery while a permanent appointment is progressed.
The successful candidate will work across a varied Environmental Protection caseload, including (but not limited to):
- Planning and Licensing consultations
- Environmental Permitting inspections and complaint investigations
- Anti‑Social Behaviour and Statutory Nuisance complaints (commercial and domestic)
- Public health‑related complaints
- Private Water Supplies
Working pattern:
- Full‑time (37 hours per week)
- Minimum of 3 days per week office‑based
- Up to 2 days per week homeworkingÂ
About you:
- Qualified Environmental Health Officer (EHRB/Chartered or working towards)
- Proven experience in Environmental Protection within a local authority setting
- Able to manage a diverse workload and work with minimal supervision
- Strong communication and investigation skills
This is an excellent short‑term opportunity for an EHO looking for a varied caseload within a supportive council team during one of the busiest periods of the year.
