Environmental Health Officer / Technical Officer
Our Local Authority client based in Norfolk is seeking an experienced Environmental Health Officer (EHO) or Technical Officer to join their Environmental Protection and Community Safety team on an initial 6-month contract, with the potential for extension.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Environmental Health professional with a strong background in anti-social behaviour investigations, environmental enforcement, and community safety. The successful candidate will play a key role in protecting local communities, investigating complaints, and undertaking enforcement action where required.
Key Responsibilities
- Investigate and manage Anti-Social Behaviour (ASB) cases.
- Respond to and resolve noise and statutory nuisance complaints.
- Undertake enforcement relating to environmental crime, including fly-tipping and waste offences.
- Carry out site inspections, gather evidence, and prepare case files.
- Issue warnings, notices, and take formal enforcement action where appropriate.
- Work collaboratively with Housing, Police, Community Safety teams, and other external stakeholders.
- Provide professional advice and guidance to residents and businesses.
Required Experience
- Previous Local Authority experience within Environmental Health, Environmental Protection, Public Protection, or Community Safety.
- Proven experience investigating and managing ASB cases.
- Strong background in noise nuisance and statutory nuisance investigations.
- Experience dealing with environmental crime, fly-tipping, and waste enforcement.
- Sound knowledge of relevant environmental and enforcement legislation.
- Ability to independently manage a varied and complex caseload.
- Experience gathering evidence and preparing cases for enforcement action.
Desirable Experience
- Environmental Health qualification or equivalent regulatory services experience.
- Previous experience working within a Community Safety function.
- Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle.
