Freelance Engineering Manager – Industrial Projects

Project Overview
We are looking for an experienced Freelance Engineering Manager to coordinate a large-scale industrial expansion and transformation project within a leading food production environment.
The project consists of approximately seven interconnected engineering projects, combining brownfield modifications with a greenfield character. These include a new production line, automated potato storage facilities, new freezing and packaging lines, an automated truck loading system, and the reconstruction of the site’s wastewater treatment plant.
The production process involves complex industrial installations, including extensive piping, utilities, process equipment, automated storage systems, and environmental control systems.
Key Responsibilities
Coordinate and oversee the engineering activities across multiple interconnected industrial projects.
Monitor project planning, milestones, budgets, costs and overall progress.
Coordinate the various engineers and technical stakeholders responsible for individual project areas.
Identify planning conflicts, technical dependencies and potential project risks, and drive timely resolution.
Facilitate communication between engineering teams, contractors, suppliers and other stakeholders.
Support the transition from the current civil works phase towards machinery installation and commissioning.
Required Experience
Master’s degree in Engineering, either Industrial or Civil Engineering.
Proven experience coordinating complex engineering projects in an industrial or production environment.
Strong understanding of industrial installations, production processes and technical engineering concepts.
Experience with project planning, budget monitoring, progress reporting and coordination of multiple stakeholders.
Strong communication and organisational skills, with the ability to guide engineers and keep projects on track.
Fluent in Dutch and English; candidates speaking English only may also be considered.
Practical Details
Freelance contract with a competitive daily rate.
Location: Waregem, Belgium.
On-site presence required five days per week
The project is currently in the civil works phase, with machinery installation planned to begin in January.
