Embedded Engineer

A Satcom client of mine is looking for a few freelance embedded (cybersecurity) experts.

The position is as below.

Logistics:

• Remote
• 12 months
• EU citizen
• Start mid-October
• English only (German is a bonus)

Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, and maintain embedded software solutions using Embedded C, C++, and Python for security-critical applications.
• Implement cybersecurity features including secure boot, authentication, encryption, key management, and secure firmware update mechanisms.
• Develop and enhance software on Embedded Linux platforms, optimizing performance, reliability, and security.
• Integrate and support wireless communication technologies including Wi-Fi, Bluetooth Classic, and Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE).
• Work with Qualcomm SDKs and platforms to develop secure, scalable, and connected embedded products.
• Contribute to the design and implementation of embedded networking and switching systems, ensuring robust connectivity and resilience.
• Support product compliance activities aligned with the Cyber Resilience Act (CRA), including vulnerability management, threat mitigation, security documentation, and secure development practices.

Requirements:

• Strong commercial experience developing embedded software using C and C++, with proficiency in Python for automation, testing, or tooling.
• Proven experience working with Embedded Linux environments, including kernel, drivers, BSPs, and application development.
• Solid understanding of embedded cybersecurity principles and secure software development lifecycle (SSDLC) practices.
• Hands-on experience with Qualcomm SDKs/platforms and integration of third-party hardware and software components.
• Experience implementing and debugging Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and BLE communication stacks and protocols.
• Knowledge of embedded networking technologies, switch systems, TCP/IP networking, and connected device architectures.
• Familiarity with regulatory and industry security standards, with experience supporting compliance initiatives such as the Cyber Resilience Act (CRA), IEC 62443, ETSI EN 303 645, or similar cybersecurity frameworks.
