The Electronics Design Engineer is responsible for managing and coordinating electronics design projects from concept through delivery, ensuring that internal requirements are fully understood and met by external design partners.
This role focuses on planning, tracking, and facilitating the progress of projects executed by third-party design houses, while acting as the primary liaison between internal stakeholders and external teams.
The Project Engineer ensures that project milestones, budgets, and quality standards are achieved, risks are proactively managed, and communication across cross-functional teams, including R&D, Mechanical, Production, Quality, and Procurement, is clear and effective.
This role requires strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills, as well as the ability to translate technical requirements into actionable project plans and monitor progress against them.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage electronics design projects executed by third-party design houses, ensuring alignment with internal objectives, timelines, and budgets
- Develop and maintain detailed project plans, including schedules, milestones, dependencies, and resource allocation
- Monitor project progress, identify potential risks or delays, and implement mitigation plans
- Ensure timely delivery of project documentation, prototypes, and final design outputs
- Act as the main point of contact between internal stakeholders and external design teams
- Translate internal functional requirements into clear, actionable specifications for third-party designers
- Coordinate regular project updates, meetings, and reviews with stakeholders
- Ensure stakeholder expectations are managed and requirements are fully captured and validated
- Ensure that external designs comply with technical, quality, and regulatory requirements
- Track progress on design verification, testing, and validation activities
- Support the review of technical deliverables, including design documentation, schematics, and test reports
Qualifications & Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related field
- Proven experience managing electronics design projects, preferably involving third-party design houses
- Strong project management skills, including planning, scheduling, risk management, and reporting
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to coordinate between internal teams and external partners
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Understanding of electronics design processes, documentation, and validation/testing practices
- Familiarity with project management tools (e.g., MS Project, Jira, Asana, or similar)
