Electrical Engineer – Biomass Outage Project
Position Overview
We are looking for an experienced Electrical Engineer to join a 12-month biomass outage project in North Holland, Netherlands.
This is a freelance / ZZP opportunity with an ASAP start date. The successful candidate will be responsible for the engineering, coordination, and technical execution of modifications to existing electrical installations, working closely with project management, contractors, suppliers, and the site team.
The role is predominantly site-based, although the exact rotation or working pattern can be negotiated.
Key Responsibilities
- Engineer and technically develop modifications to existing electrical installations.
- Develop and review changes to electrical schematics, cables, power supplies, and electrical components.
- Prepare and review technical specifications, material lists, spare-parts proposals, and engineering documentation.
- Support projects from initial concept through execution, testing, commissioning, and final handover.
- Coordinate electrical engineering activities with project management, contractors, suppliers, and site personnel.
- Review and assess technical proposals from suppliers and contractors.
- Provide technical support and supervision during installation, testing, and commissioning activities.
- Ensure all modifications are executed correctly and in compliance with applicable technical standards, regulations, and safety requirements.
- Update electrical drawings and other technical documentation as required.
- Ensure a complete and accurate handover of documentation and modifications to the maintenance organisation.
Requirements
- Degree in Electrical Engineering or a closely related discipline.
- Valid VCA-VOL certificate.
- Strong practical and technical understanding of electrical installations and engineering.
- Fluent English, both written and spoken.
- Dutch language skills are advantageous but not essential.
- EU passport holder or valid Dutch residency/work authorisation.
- Able to work effectively in a site-based project environment and coordinate with multiple stakeholders.
- Previous experience working on industrial projects, outages, power generation, or similar environments would be highly advantageous.
