Environmental Health Officer (Housing) – 21 Hours per Week

We are currently working with a local authority in Lancashire to recruit an experienced Environmental Health Officer for an initial 6-month contract. This is a part-time opportunity (21 hours per week) with a focus on housing standards and community wellbeing.
The Role
You will play a key role in maintaining housing standards and addressing public health concerns across the borough, working within a supportive and collaborative team.
Key responsibilities include:
- Managing and inspecting HMO (Houses in Multiple Occupation) properties
- Investigating and resolving statutory nuisance cases
- Handling housing complaints from residents
- Conducting property inspections and site visits
- Ensuring compliance with relevant housing and environmental health legislation
Requirements
- Previous experience working as an Environmental Health Officer within a local authority
- Strong working knowledge of housing legislation, including HMO regulations
- Experience dealing with nuisance complaints and enforcement
- Excellent communication and case management skills
- Ability to work independently and manage your own caseload
