Environmental Health Officer (Housing) – 21 Hours per Week

📅 6-Month Contract

We are currently working with a local authority in Lancashire to recruit an experienced Environmental Health Officer for an initial 6-month contract. This is a part-time opportunity (21 hours per week) with a focus on housing standards and community wellbeing.

The Role

You will play a key role in maintaining housing standards and addressing public health concerns across the borough, working within a supportive and collaborative team.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Managing and inspecting HMO (Houses in Multiple Occupation) properties
  • Investigating and resolving statutory nuisance cases
  • Handling housing complaints from residents
  • Conducting property inspections and site visits
  • Ensuring compliance with relevant housing and environmental health legislation

Requirements

  • Previous experience working as an Environmental Health Officer within a local authority
  • Strong working knowledge of housing legislation, including HMO regulations
  • Experience dealing with nuisance complaints and enforcement
  • Excellent communication and case management skills
  • Ability to work independently and manage your own caseload
