Contract Type: Interim
About the role
Our client is a local authority in Great Yarmouth, looking to appoint a DFG Technical Officer to support the delivery of Disabled Facilities Grants across the borough. The role sits at the point where housing, health and social care meet, helping residents make the adaptations they need to live safely and independently in their own homes.
The successful candidate will manage a caseload of grant applications from first enquiry through to completion. This includes visiting properties, assessing the proposed adaptations, preparing schedules of works and specifications, and making sure the work is delivered to a good standard, on time and within budget. You will work closely with occupational therapists, contractors, agents and applicants, and you will often be dealing with people at a difficult time, so clear communication and a considered approach matter.
The role calls for sound technical judgement and a good working knowledge of the DFG process. You will help keep cases moving, maintain accurate records and contribute to the efficient running of the service.

- Monitor works on site, carry out inspections and ensure completed adaptations meet the required standard
- Resolve technical issues, variations and complaints as they arise
- Liaise with occupational therapists, social care teams, contractors, landlords and applicants
- Maintain accurate case records and update the housing management and grant systems
- Support service performance, reporting and continuous improvement
