Housing Compliance Officer (Gas and Electrical) | Interim Position – 6+ Months

Contract: Temporary, minimum 6 months

About the role
Our client, a Local Authority based in Scotland, is looking to appoint an experienced Compliance Officer to cover gas and electrical compliance across their housing stock. This is a minimum six-month assignment, working predominantly from home, and would suit someone with a strong background in social housing compliance who is comfortable working independently while staying closely connected to internal teams and contractors.
You’ll take ownership of compliance data and reporting, working closely with the in-house Housing and Assets teams as well as external contractors to make sure certification, inspections and remedial works are tracked, logged and reported accurately. You’ll also provide technical input on domestic fire detection systems and electrical inspections, supporting the wider team in maintaining ongoing compliance across the housing portfolio.
You’ll be well supported in this role, with access to an in-house team of admin and technical staff, including a Clerk of Works.
Main responsibilities
- Procuring and logging compliance data and certificates from contractors
- Preparing compliance reporting outputs, including for regulatory purposes, primarily via spreadsheet
- Liaising with in-house Housing and Assets teams and external contractors
- Attending monthly online meetings to provide technical support to the Contract Administrator
- Forward planning works with contractors for future inspections to maintain ongoing compliance
- Providing informed technical input on domestic smoke and fire detection (LD2) systems, and EICR inspections and follow-up works
- Verifying contractor works, variations and payments
Requirements
- Minimum of five years’ post-qualification experience
- Strong working knowledge of Excel, with confidence handling compliance data and reporting
- Comfortable liaising with contractors, internal teams and regulatory stakeholders
- Experience within social housing or a similar regulated compliance environment is advantageous
- Relevant qualifications such as NICEIC, SELECT or Gas Safe would be beneficial
