About the role
Our client is looking for a Commissioning Manager to join them in Vienna on a contract basis. The role is responsible for leading the commissioning process on a project, making sure systems and equipment are installed, tested and handed over safely, on time and to the required standard.
You will plan and coordinate commissioning activities, working with project managers, engineers, contractors and the end client to move the project smoothly from construction through to operation. The position suits an experienced professional who is comfortable taking ownership of a programme, resolving technical issues as they arise and communicating clearly with stakeholders at all levels.
The successful candidate will bring sound commissioning experience, good judgement and a structured, safety-conscious approach. This is a hands-on assignment where your experience will be put to work from the outset.
Main responsibilities
- Lead and coordinate commissioning activities across the project, from planning through to handover
- Develop commissioning plans, procedures, schedules and test documentation
- Manage commissioning teams, contractors and suppliers on site
- Oversee the testing, start-up and performance verification of systems and equipment
- Track, manage and close out snags and punch list items
- Coordinate with design, construction and project management teams to resolve technical and programme issues
- Make sure commissioning work meets safety, quality and regulatory requirements
- Review and approve commissioning records, reports and handover documentation
- Report on progress, risks and issues to project management and the client
- Support the transition of completed systems to operations and maintenance teams
Requirements
- A degree or equivalent qualification in engineering or a related technical discipline
- Relevant experience in commissioning, ideally in a leading or managerial role
- A strong understanding of commissioning processes, from pre-commissioning checks through to handover
- Experience managing contractors, suppliers and multi-disciplinary teams
- Knowledge of health, safety and quality requirements on site
- Experience producing and reviewing commissioning plans, test procedures and documentation
- Strong problem-solving, planning and communication skills
- The ability to work in Vienna
