Locum Contracts Lawyer

North West Local Authority | Fully Remote | Initial 3–6 Month Contract

Vivid Resourcing are currently working with a local authority in the North West who are looking to appoint an experienced Locum Contracts Lawyer to join their legal services team on an interim basis.

This is an excellent opportunity for a Contracts Lawyer to support a busy local authority legal team, handling a varied commercial contracts caseload. The role offers fully remote working, providing flexibility for candidates looking for their next locum opportunity.

Responsibilities:

• Managing a varied caseload of commercial contracts matters across the local authority

• Drafting, reviewing and negotiating a range of commercial agreements and contracts

• Advising on contractual terms, risks and liabilities

• Supporting internal departments with procurement exercises and contract-related matters

• Providing legal advice on framework agreements, service contracts and supplier arrangements

• Working closely with procurement teams and other stakeholders to ensure contractual compliance

• Managing matters independently from instruction through to completion

Requirements:

• Qualified Solicitor, Barrister or Legal Executive in England & Wales

• Demonstrable experience handling commercial contracts matters

• Previous local authority or public sector experience is highly desirable

• Knowledge of public procurement legislation and the Procurement Act 2023 would be advantageous

• Strong drafting, negotiation and communication skills

• Ability to manage a caseload independently in a remote working environment

Contract Details:

• Competitive hourly rate (dependent on experience)

• Fully remote working

• Initial 3–6 month contract with potential for extension
