About the role
Our client, an organisation delivering industrial projects, is looking for a Civil Site Engineer to support construction activities in Lower Saxony on a contract basis. The role is based on site and focuses on making sure civil works are carried out safely, to specification and in line with the project programme.
The successful candidate will oversee and coordinate civil works such as earthworks, foundations, concrete structures, drainage and site infrastructure. You will work closely with the construction manager, subcontractors, design teams and other disciplines. The job involves checking that work follows drawings and specifications, solving technical issues as they come up, and keeping quality, safety and progress under control on a daily basis.
This role suits a practical civil engineer who is comfortable in an active construction environment and can combine technical knowledge with good coordination and communication on site. Further details on start date, duration and working pattern are to be confirmed with candidates.
Main responsibilities
- Supervise and coordinate civil works on site, including earthworks, foundations, concrete works, drainage and roads
- Make sure works are carried out in line with drawings, specifications and project requirements
- Coordinate subcontractors and monitor daily progress against the construction programme
- Review construction drawings and method statements, and raise technical queries where needed
- Carry out inspections and support quality control, including test records and inspection documentation
- Promote and enforce health, safety and environmental standards on site
- Work with other disciplines, such as mechanical, electrical and structural teams, on interfaces and sequencing
- Keep site records, daily reports and progress updates for the project team
- Support quantity checks, measurement of completed works and handover documentation
Requirements
Essential
- Degree or equivalent qualification in Civil Engineering or a related field
- Proven experience as a Civil Site Engineer or in a similar site-based civil engineering role
- Good knowledge of civil construction methods, including earthworks, foundations and concrete works
- Able to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications
- Experience coordinating subcontractors on site
- A strong focus on safety, quality and attention to detail
- Clear communication and good organisational skills
Desirable
- Experience on industrial, energy or large infrastructure projects
- Familiarity with German construction standards and site practices
- Experience with quality documentation and inspection and test plans
