Business Controller – Permanent Position, Belgium

Our client is an established international food and beverage organisation with a strong presence across Europe. Following the departure of a member of their finance team, they are looking to appoint a Business Controller to join the business as soon as possible.
This is a broad, hands-on controlling position suited to a finance professional who has built a solid foundation in business controlling, financial analysis or audit and is looking to develop their commercial experience within an established organisation.
The Role
As Business Controller, you will:
- Take responsibility for day-to-day business controlling activities
- Support the budgeting and forecasting processes
- Perform variance analysis and investigate differences between actual and expected performance
- Analyse financial data and provide clear insights into business performance
- Prepare financial reports and analysis using Excel
- Work closely with stakeholders across the business to support financial decision-making
- Monitor performance against budgets and forecasts
- Contribute to financial planning and performance management activities
- Support wider finance projects and initiatives where required
About You
We are looking for a mid-level finance professional with a strong foundation in financial analysis and controlling. This is not a highly senior position, making it well suited to someone looking to build on their existing experience and take on broader commercial responsibilities.
You will ideally have:
- Experience in business controlling, FP&A or a similar finance role
- Strong Excel skills and confidence working with financial data
- Experience with budgeting, forecasting and variance analysis
- A good understanding of financial reporting and performance management
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- The ability to communicate financial information clearly to non-finance stakeholders
- A background in audit would also be advantageous
- A proactive, hands-on approach and the ability to work independently
This could be particularly well suited to someone coming from an audit background who is looking to move into a commercial business controlling environment, as well as an existing Business Controller looking for their next opportunity.
