About the role
Our client, an international organisation in the retail sector, is looking for a Business Analyst to join its team in Belgium on a freelance basis. The role sits between the business and the technology teams. It helps turn operational needs into clear, workable requirements that support better processes, systems and decisions.
The successful candidate will work with stakeholders across different departments to understand how processes run today, identify where improvements can be made and define what is needed from a change or system implementation. This includes running workshops, documenting requirements, mapping processes and working closely with IT, product and delivery teams to make sure solutions meet the needs of the business.
The role suits an experienced Business Analyst who is comfortable working in a large, multi-stakeholder environment and can bring structure to complex questions. Further details on start date, duration and working arrangements are to be confirmed with candidates.
Main responsibilities
- Gather, analyse and document business requirements through workshops, interviews and process reviews
- Map current and future-state business processes and identify opportunities for improvement
- Turn business needs into clear functional requirements, user stories and acceptance criteria
- Act as the link between business stakeholders and IT, product and delivery teams
- Support the prioritisation of requirements and backlog items with stakeholders
- Carry out impact analysis for proposed changes across processes, systems and data
- Support testing activities, including test scenarios, user acceptance testing and validation of solutions
- Help prepare stakeholders for change and support adoption of new processes or systems
- Keep documentation clear, up to date and accessible to the wider project team
Requirements
Essential
- Proven experience as a Business Analyst, ideally in a large or international organisation
- Strong experience with requirements gathering, process mapping and functional documentation
- Comfortable facilitating workshops and working with stakeholders at different levels
- Ability to translate business needs into clear requirements for technical teams
- Experience working in Agile, Waterfall or hybrid project environments
- Strong analytical, structured and communicative way of working
- Fluent English
Desirable
- Experience in retail, FMCG, supply chain or other commercial environments
- Familiarity with tools such as Jira, Confluence or process modelling tools (e.g. BPMN)
- Experience supporting ERP, data or digital transformation projects
- Additional language skills relevant to the Belgian market
