About the Client:

Our client is a leading organisation within the utilities sector, delivering critical infrastructure services across Belgium. They are investing heavily in their Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDWH) and Business Intelligence capabilities to enhance reporting, data governance, and business decision-making.


Role Overview:

We are seeking an experienced Functional BI Analyst to bridge the gap between business stakeholders and technical teams. You will play a key role in gathering reporting requirements, defining business rules, modelling data, and delivering Business Intelligence solutions that support operational and managerial decision-making.

The successful candidate will work closely with Business Process Analysts (BPAs), IT teams, and business stakeholders throughout the full BI project lifecycle.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Gather and analyse managerial and operational reporting requirements from business stakeholders and Business Process Analysts.
  • Produce clear business specifications and functional analysis documentation.
  • Define and validate business rules through prototyping using SAS Enterprise Guide.
  • Analyse and profile operational data to ensure data quality and consistency.
  • Develop and maintain business glossaries and standardised reporting definitions.
  • Design logical Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDWH) and BI data models, including Star Schema modelling.
  • Model data integration and ETL flows between operational systems and the Data Warehouse.
  • Design and develop dashboards and reporting solutions using SAS Visual Analytics.
  • Prepare, execute, and document testing activities ahead of Business Acceptance Testing (BAT).
  • Support business users in defining test scenarios, executing test cases, and resolving issues.
  • Define user roles, permissions, and reporting access requirements.
  • Create user training documentation and deliver end-user training sessions.
  • Ensure the quality and completeness of all project deliverables, including:
    • Functional Design Documents
    • Source-to-Target Mapping
    • EDWH & BI Logical Data Models
    • SAS Visual Analytics Reports
    • Test Documentation & Issue Logs
    • Training Materials
  • Support the Project Manager and Functional Lead by providing input on project risks, effort estimations, solution design, and project scope.

Candidate Requirements:

  • Proven experience as a Functional BI Analyst or Business Intelligence Functional Consultant.
  • Strong experience gathering business requirements and translating them into functional specifications.
  • Experience working on Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDWH) projects.
  • Strong understanding of dimensional modelling and Star Schema design.
  • Experience with data profiling and data quality analysis.
  • Hands-on experience with SAS Enterprise Guide.
  • Experience developing reports and dashboards using SAS Visual Analytics.
  • Knowledge of Source-to-Target Mapping and ETL concepts.
  • Experience supporting Business Acceptance Testing (BAT).
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently within cross-functional teams.

Desirable Skills

  • Experience within the utilities, energy, or infrastructure sectors.
  • Knowledge of data governance and business glossary management.
  • Experience working in Agile or hybrid project environments.

Contract Details

Location: Hybrid – Belgium/Brussels – French Speaking.  

Duration: Initial 12-month contract (extension likely)

Rate: Competitive daily rate (DOE)
