Autonomy Software Systems Engineer – Luxembourg

Our Luxembourg based client is an international engineering organisation developing advanced autonomous, navigation and robotic systems for complex aerospace and defence applications.
They are looking for an Autonomy Software Systems Engineer to design, integrate and verify autonomous sensing and navigation solutions. The position combines systems engineering, navigation, sensor fusion, architecture, hardware/software integration and end-to-end verification.
Responsibilities
- Translate operational needs into system and subsystem requirements.
- Design architectures covering sensors, perception, navigation, state estimation, autonomy software and compute platforms.
- Develop and integrate Kalman filtering, nonlinear estimation and multi-sensor fusion solutions.
- Define interfaces between navigation, computer vision, control, simulation and hardware.
- Build and integrate hardware/software prototypes.
- Define verification strategies, performance metrics and test scenarios.
- Conduct model-, software- and processor-in-the-loop testing.
- Maintain requirements, architecture and verification traceability.
- Support technical reviews and multidisciplinary engineering teams.
Requirements
- Experience in autonomous systems, navigation, robotics or complex hardware/software systems.
- Strong understanding of systems engineering.
- Knowledge of Kalman filtering, state estimation and sensor fusion.
- Understanding of guidance, navigation and control (GNC).
- Experience with requirements engineering and system architecture.
- Experience integrating software, sensors, hardware and simulation environments.
- Working knowledge of C++ and/or Python.
- Experience with system testing and verification.
Aerospace or defence experience is beneficial but not essential. Candidates from robotics, autonomous vehicles, drones or other complex autonomous systems are also encouraged to apply.
Desirable: ROS/ROS 2, SLAM, computer vision, Gazebo/Isaac Sim, embedded systems, MBSE, requirements-management tools and multi-sensor integration.
