We are looking for a Freelance Automation Engineer (OT) to support a production environment in Leuven. This is a hands-on role focused on maintaining and improving industrial automation systems, following up on production-related issues, and supporting the evolution of the Manufacturing Execution System (MES).
This position is well suited to a junior or mid-level automation engineer with a solid foundation in industrial automation and a proactive approach to troubleshooting.
Responsibilities
- Follow up and resolve automation-related tickets originating from the production line.
- Troubleshoot and fix issues within automation and control systems.
- Support the transition and optimization of the MES architecture and help define the most effective process flows.
- Develop, modify, and maintain automation scripts where required.
- Collaborate with production, engineering, and IT/OT teams to ensure system reliability and continuous improvement.
- Assist in identifying root causes and implementing sustainable solutions.
Required Profile
- Basic knowledge of industrial automation.
- Experience with PLC, DCS, or comparable automation systems.
- Some programming experience.
- Familiarity with Historian, AVEVA, and Python.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Good communication skills and the ability to work independently on-site.
