Associate Director – Environmental Planning
Location: London, Birmingham, Bristol or Bournemouth
Salary: £55,000 – £75,000 + benefits
The Opportunity
A leading multidisciplinary planning, design and environmental consultancy is looking to appoint an Associate Director – Environmental Planning to join its growing team.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced environmental planning professional looking to take the next step in their career within a collaborative, design-led consultancy.
The Role
As Associate Director, you will play a senior role in delivering environmental planning advice across a diverse portfolio of projects, while helping to develop the team’s technical offering, client base and wider business.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Leading and managing Environmental Impact Assessments and Environmental Statements.
- Providing strategic environmental planning advice to clients.
- Managing complex multidisciplinary projects and coordinating technical consultants.
- Advising on environmental constraints, opportunities and development strategy.
- Preparing and reviewing environmental reports, assessments and technical documentation.
- Working closely with planning and design teams to integrate environmental considerations into projects.
- Managing client relationships and acting as a trusted senior adviser.
- Supporting business development, winning new instructions and developing existing client relationships.
- Preparing fee proposals, scopes of work and project programmes.
- Mentoring and supporting junior members of the Environmental Planning team.
- Contributing to the continued growth of the Environmental Planning service.
About You
You will be an experienced environmental planning professional with a strong track record of working within consultancy and delivering complex development projects.
You are likely to have:
- Significant experience in environmental planning and/or EIA consultancy.
- Strong experience coordinating multidisciplinary teams and environmental assessments.
- Excellent knowledge of the UK planning and environmental assessment system.
- Experience managing projects from inception through to planning submission and determination.
- Strong commercial awareness and client management skills.
- Excellent communication and report-writing skills.
- Experience in business development and winning new work.
- A collaborative approach and the ability to work effectively across different professional disciplines.
- Relevant professional qualifications such as CEnv, IEMA, RTPI or equivalent would be advantageous.
