About the Opportunity

An established UK residential developer and regeneration specialist is seeking an ambitious and commercially minded Town Planner to join its Norwich team.

This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in delivering high-quality housing-led developments that create sustainable communities across the region. Working within a multidisciplinary team, you will support the planning process from site identification and acquisition through to securing planning permissions and assisting with project delivery.

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to influence strategic land opportunities, engage with key stakeholders and contribute to projects that have a lasting positive impact on local communities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage planning applications from preparation through to determination.
  • Prepare and coordinate planning strategies for residential and mixed-use developments.
  • Liaise with local planning authorities, statutory consultees, external consultants and key stakeholders.
  • Support land acquisition activities through planning appraisals and due diligence exercises.
  • Monitor planning policy changes and assess their implications for current and future developments.
  • Prepare planning statements and coordinate supporting technical documentation.
  • Attend meetings, public consultations and stakeholder engagement events.
  • Support project teams to ensure planning obligations and conditions are effectively discharged.
  • Build and maintain positive working relationships with local authorities and external partners.

About You

We’re looking for an organised and proactive planning professional who is passionate about delivering successful developments and creating thriving communities.

You will ideally have:

Essential

  • Degree qualification in Town Planning or a related discipline.
  • Membership of, or working towards membership of, the Royal Town Planning Institute (RTPI).
  • Previous experience within planning consultancy, housebuilding, development, regeneration or a local authority environment.
  • Strong knowledge of the UK planning system and relevant planning legislation.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong stakeholder management and relationship-building abilities.
  • Good organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Full UK driving licence.

Desirable

  • Experience of residential development projects.
  • Knowledge of the East Anglia planning landscape.
  • Experience undertaking site appraisals and strategic land assessments.
