About the Client:
Our client operates within the automotive industry, managing large-scale distribution, logistics, and inventory systems across multiple locations. Their core systems are built on IBM i (AS400) and play a critical role in daily operations.
Role Overview:
We are seeking an experienced AS400 RPG Programmer to maintain, enhance, and gradually modernise legacy ERP systems. You will work closely with both IT and business teams to ensure system reliability while contributing to ongoing transformation initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
• Develop and maintain applications on IBM i (AS400)
• Program in RPG (RPG IV / RPGLE / Free-format RPG)
• Support business-critical processes (inventory, logistics, order management)
• Analyse requirements and translate into technical solutions
• Troubleshoot and resolve production issues
• Work with DB2/400 databases (queries, optimisation)
• Develop and maintain CL programs and batch jobs
• Collaborate with business stakeholders (supply chain, finance, operations)
• Contribute to system documentation
• Support integration with modern systems and APIs
Candidate Requirements:
• Strong experience with RPG (RPG IV / RPGLE / Free-format RPG)
• Proven experience with IBM i (AS400)
• Solid knowledge of DB2/400 and SQL
• Experience with CL (Control Language)
• Background in ERP or logistics/distribution environments
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Good communication skills with both technical and business teams
