Brief Summary
Our public sector client, in the East of England are searching for an Aids and Adaptations Housing Surveyor to join their team on a contract basis for a minimum of 6 months, with the possibility to extend.
This role will support the delivery of housing adaptations to enable residents to live safely and independently in their homes.
Key Responsibilities
• Undertake site surveys and assess the feasibility of housing adaptation works
• Produce technical drawings, plans, and specifications
• Manage adaptation projects from inception through to completion
• Review contractor quotations and ensure value for money
• Monitor works on site, identify defects, and ensure quality standards are met
• Ensure compliance with housing legislation, construction standards, health and safety, and CDM regulations
• Work collaboratively with residents, contractors, occupational therapists, and internal teams
Required Experience
• Minimum of 2 years’ experience in housing adaptations or a similar surveying role
• Strong knowledge of building construction, housing legislation, HHSRS, and CDM Regulations
• Experience producing technical drawings using CAD, Visio, or similar software
• Ability to manage a busy caseload and prioritise effectively
• Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain technical information in plain English
• Experience challenging and assessing what is reasonable and practicable in adaptation works
• Excellent record-keeping, stakeholder management, and problem-solving skills
• Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle
Desirable (optional)
• Asbestos awareness certification
• Experience working within a local authority setting
• Previous experience working alongside occupational therapists
