About the role

For a client in Turnhout we are looking for an Accountant to support the team during a temporary mission. You will be responsible for managing day-to-day accounting activities for a portfolio of clients and ensuring that accounts are maintained accurately and in accordance with Belgian accounting and tax requirements.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced accountant who can quickly integrate into a high-paced environment and work independently while collaborating closely with colleagues and clients.

Key responsibilities

• Manage the accounting of a portfolio of Belgian companies and/or self-employed clients.
• Process purchase and sales invoices, financial transactions and other accounting entries.
• Perform bank and balance sheet reconciliations.
• Prepare VAT returns and assist with other periodic tax filings.
• Prepare and review periodic and annual closings.
• Assist with the preparation of annual accounts and tax returns.
• Follow up on outstanding accounting information and liaise with clients to obtain missing documents.
• Identify accounting discrepancies and ensure they are resolved accurately and efficiently.
• Provide general accounting support to the fiduciary team during the temporary assignment.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date client files and accounting records.
• Ensure compliance with Belgian accounting legislation and internal procedures.

Profile

• Degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics or a related field.
• Previous experience in a Belgian fiduciary/accounting firm is strongly preferred.
• Good knowledge of Belgian accounting principles and VAT.
• Experience with accounting software; knowledge of common Belgian accounting packages is an advantage.
• Fluent in Dutch; knowledge of English and/or French is an advantage.
• Available for a temporary mission and able to start at relatively short notice.
