Role – Accountant (Part-Time) Freelance
Contract length – 3-6 Month Contract

About the Opportunity
Our client is a growing company based in Bruges that is experiencing significant expansion and is looking to bring its accounting activities in-house. As the business continues to grow, management is seeking an experienced Accountant who can take ownership of the day-to-day finance function and provide reliable accounting support on a part-time basis.
Initially, this assignment is expected to require 2 days per week and will be offered as a 3 to 6-month contract. There is potential for the role to expand over time as the company continues its growth trajectory.
Following an initial onboarding period in the Bruges office, there will be flexibility to work partly from home.
Key Responsibilities

• Manage the day-to-day accounting activities of the business
• Process and maintain purchase and sales invoices
• Perform bookkeeping activities and ensure accurate financial records
• Handle VAT-related calculations and ensure compliance with Belgian VAT regulations
• Prepare accounting entries and support month-end and year-end closing activities
• Follow up on outstanding payments where required
• Process and upload invoices into the company’s factoring system

Profile

• Proven experience in a bookkeeping, accounting, or finance position, with around 3-5 years experience
• Strong knowledge of Belgian accounting principles and VAT legislation
• Comfortable operating autonomously and taking ownership of the finance function
• Hands-on approach with a willingness to support both accounting and administrative activities
• Strong attention to detail and organisational skills
• Experience with accounting software and digital finance processes
• Dutch fluent is mandatory, with French and English being a plus
• Experience in a growing SME environment is advantageous
