Freelance Finance Accountant – 6-Month Contract

About the opportunity

We are looking for an experienced Finance Accountant to join an international food and beverage organisation on a 6-month freelance contract.

Based in Roeselare, Belgium, you will support the local finance function and contribute to the smooth running and continuous improvement of financial processes across multiple entities within an international group.

This is a hands-on role suited to an experienced accountant who is comfortable working independently, taking ownership of responsibilities and operating in a multinational environment.

Key responsibilities

As a Freelance Finance Accountant, you will:

• Process and record invoices for goods and services.
• Maintain accurate supplier administration and master data.
• Support monthly, quarterly and annual closing activities across several group entities.
• Prepare tax and other statutory declarations, including VAT, corporate income tax and Intrastat reporting.
• Support the annual audit process and provide information as required.
• Identify opportunities to improve and streamline financial processes.
• Support the implementation and optimisation of new finance systems and tools.
• Work closely with the local Finance Manager and wider international finance teams.

Your experience

We are looking for someone with:

• A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or a related discipline.
• At least 3 years of relevant accounting experience.
• Strong attention to detail and a structured approach to work.
• A hands-on, pragmatic mindset with the ability to work independently.
• Strong ownership and accountability for assigned tasks and projects.
• Fluency in Dutch and English, both written and spoken.
• French language skills are an advantage.
• Strong IT skills, including advanced Excel.
• Experience working with ERP systems; experience with Microsoft Dynamics AX, M3 or similar is an advantage.
