About the Role
Vivid Resourcing is working with a an organization seeking an experienced and driven Waste & Recycling Manager to lead the delivery and continuous improvement of their waste and recycling services. This is a key operational leadership role, responsible for ensuring high‑quality, compliant, and cost‑effective services that support the organisation’s environmental objectives and serve our communities.
You will manage frontline operations, contracts, budgets, and people, while driving service improvement, health and safety excellence, and statutory compliance.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage all aspects of the organisation’s waste, recycling, and associated environmental services.
- Ensure services are delivered efficiently, safely, and in line with legislation and best practice.
- Manage budgets, control spend, and deliver value for money.
- Oversee operational performance, service planning, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Ensure compliance with health & safety, environmental, and waste legislation.
- Manage, motivate, and develop operational teams and supervisors.
- Act as the organisation’s professional lead on waste and recycling matters.
- Liaise with contractors, internal stakeholders, elected Members, and external partners.
- Support the delivery of the organisation’s sustainability and environmental priorities.
About You
You will be a confident leader with strong operational and technical knowledge of waste and recycling services, ideally gained within a local authority or a similar complex environment.
Essential:
- Significant management experience within waste, recycling, or environmental services.
- Strong operational management and service delivery expertise.
- Proven budget management and financial control experience.
- Sound knowledge of waste legislation, compliance, and health & safety.
- Experience managing staff, performance, and change.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
