With a healthy and growing pipeline of development-led work, the consultancy is looking to appoint a Transport Planner with solid development planning experience to strengthen its Bristol team.
This is an excellent opportunity for a transport planning professional to take a key role on high-profile schemes, working closely with developers, planning consultants, and local authorities.
The Role:
As a Transport Planner, you will be responsible for providing transport planning input to a wide range of development projects, supporting planning applications and shaping transport strategies from early feasibility through to consent.
You will work as part of a multidisciplinary team, liaising with clients, local highway authorities, and planning officers to deliver robust and commercially focused transport solutions.
The role offers strong technical exposure, client interaction, and clear progression opportunities within a growing Bristol office.
Key Responsibilities:
Prepare Transport Assessments, Transport Statements, Travel Plans, and technical notes to support planning applications.
Provide development-focused transport advice at feasibility, pre-application, and application stages.
Liaise with local highway authorities, planning officers, and statutory consultees.
Undertake junction capacity assessments and review traffic modelling outputs.
Support negotiations with highway authorities and contribute to planning conditions and S106 discussions.
Coordinate with planners, engineers, and environmental teams on multidisciplinary projects.
Manage project inputs, deadlines, and client expectations.
Keep up to date with local and national transport policy and guidance.
About You:
We are seeking a transport planning professional with:
A degree in Transport Planning, Civil Engineering, Geography, or a related discipline.
Experience working on UK development planning projects within consultancy or local authority.
Strong understanding of the UK planning system and the role of transport evidence in securing consent.
Experience preparing Transport Assessments and engaging with highway authorities.
Familiarity with junction modelling software (e.g. Junctions 9, LinSig, VISSIM – beneficial but not essential).
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
The ability to manage projects and client relationships with confidence.
A proactive, solutions-focused, and commercially aware approach.
