Position: Transport Planner
Salary: £35k+ (dependent on experience)

The consultancy provides high-quality transport planning and development infrastructure advice across a broad range of sectors, including residential, mixed-use, commercial, logistics, retail, and strategic regeneration schemes.
Their project portfolio ranges from small-scale urban developments through to major strategic allocations and town-centre regeneration sites. They work closely with developers, land promoters, planning consultants, and local authorities to deliver commercially aware, policy-compliant, and deliverable transport solutions.
Due to continued growth and a strong pipeline of development-led projects across the Midlands and beyond, the consultancy is looking to appoint a Transport Planner to join its team.
This is an excellent opportunity for a transport planner at an early to intermediate stage in their career seeking to develop their technical skills, gain exposure to a wide variety of projects, and progress within a supportive consultancy environment.
The Role:
As a Transport Planner, you will support the delivery of transport planning inputs for a wide range of development projects, from early feasibility and site promotion stages through to planning submission and determination.
You will work closely with senior staff to produce technical reports, undertake analysis, and support engagement with clients and local authorities. The role offers strong opportunities for career progression and increasing responsibility over time.
Key Responsibilities:
Prepare Transport Assessments, Transport Statements, Travel Plans, and supporting technical documents.
Undertake junction capacity assessments and traffic modelling (e.g. Junctions 9, LinSig, PICADY/ARCADY).
Analyse transport data, including traffic counts and trip generation.
Support the development of access strategies and site layouts.
Assist in discussions with local planning authorities and highway authorities.
Provide input into feasibility studies and pre-application advice.
Support the preparation of sustainable transport strategies, including walking, cycling, and public transport measures.
Work collaboratively within project teams to ensure timely and high-quality delivery.
About You:
We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Transport Planner with:
A degree in Transport Planning, Civil Engineering, Geography, or a related discipline.
1–3 years’ experience working on UK development planning projects (consultancy or local authority).
A good understanding of the UK planning system and transport assessment process.
Experience preparing or contributing to Transport Assessments and Travel Plans.
Familiarity with junction modelling software such as Junctions 9 and LinSig (desirable).
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
A proactive attitude and willingness to learn and develop.
Progress towards professional accreditation (e.g. CIHT / TPS) would be advantageous.
