About the Role:
We are seeking a motivated and skilled Town Planner to join our dynamic planning team based in Leeds. You will play a key role in shaping sustainable, inclusive, and vibrant communities across the city by guiding development proposals and ensuring compliance with relevant planning policies and regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
Assess and manage planning applications, ensuring adherence to planning policies and regulations.
Liaise with developers, architects, and stakeholders to provide professional advice and negotiate planning conditions.
Conduct site visits and prepare detailed planning reports and recommendations.
Engage with local communities and stakeholders to balance development needs with environmental and social considerations.
Support the delivery of strategic planning initiatives aimed at regeneration, housing growth, and infrastructure improvements in Leeds.
Monitor and contribute to policy development, including sustainability and climate resilience measures.
Keep up to date with changes in planning legislation, guidance, and best practices.
Requirements:
Degree or postgraduate qualification in Town Planning or a related discipline.
Membership or working towards membership of the Royal Town Planning Institute (RTPI) is desirable.
Strong knowledge of UK planning legislation and relevant policies.
Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines efficiently.
Experience with community engagement and consultation processes.
