Tier III 5E Engineer

Are you an experienced Network Engineer with expertise in 5ESS switch technology? We’re looking for a skilled professional to join the client’s team remotely, focusing on troubleshooting and resolving network issues for our clients.

In this role, you will:
– Manage and troubleshoot network tickets related to the 5ESS switch.
– Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless operations.

– Provide technical support, analyze performance issues, and ensure network reliability.

The Network Engineer III provides technical support, internal process documentation, training and mentoring to Network Analysts and Engineers. The Network Engineer III may serve as subject matter expert for 5ESS or for a group of solutions depending on the business needs of the VNOC team.

Essential Functions

  • 5ESS switch troubleshooting expertise – 3-5 years minimum
  • ASM experience
  • Able to work from home without interruption
  • Overall telephony troubleshooting experience – 5 year minimum
  • Hardware troubleshooting and knowledge
  • Call Processing and Translations experience
  • Database experience (ODBE) resolving database inconsistencies
  • Willing to be on-call and available when needed
  • Good ticket updates, on time and understandable
  • Out of box thinking
  • Familiar with central office procedures and policies
  • Ensure understanding and compliance with ISO27001 standards

Work Environment

This job is a remote position. Traditionally, this role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers and cell phones. Would require employee to be able to work from home without interruption.

Qualifications And Education Requirements

  • 5+ years of 5E Tier 3 hardware technical support experience
  • 5+ years of experience resolving 5E database inconsistencies using ODBE
  • 5+ years of experience with 5E peripheral degrowth including multi-RSM site and ORM
  • 3+ years of technical support experience with the ASM subsystem
  • ASM hardware repair experience
  • Overall telephony troubleshooting experience – 5 year minimum
  • Hardware troubleshooting and knowledge
  • Call Processing and Translations experience
  • Familiar with central office procedures and policies
  • Degree in Engineering or related field and 4 years of engineering experience, 8 years of engineering experience, or a combination of equivalent education and experience
  • Proficient in the use of Windows-based computers. Able to use IE, Outlook, Word, Excel, Visio, Access and PowerPoint without guidance or supervision
  • Demonstrated competency with unix (including vi) or linux
  • Demonstrated competency with the supported solution’s debug levels and utilities

Preferred Skills / Knowledge

  • Superior interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to drive resolution of outages, 911 issues, non-redundancy and hardware faults, billing issues, translations, trunking, and SS7 issues
