High availability, security, and stability are key priorities. The network infrastructure plays a central role in ensuring secure connectivity, segmentation, and uninterrupted service delivery for both internal users and business applications.
Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced Freelance System Engineer to support and evolve the client’s enterprise network infrastructure. The role focuses on System Engineerin, Level 2 and Level 3 support, implementation of Infrastructure changes in a mission-critical Manufacturing environment.
You will work closely with internal IT teams, security teams, and business owners to plan, implement, and maintain network configurations while ensuring minimal impact and maximum availability of services.
Key Responsibilities
- Play a senior role in setting up and evolving the client’s IT infrastructure and services.
- Monitor and ensure optimal performance across systems, networks, and application servers.
- Provide Level 3 support and collaborate with other IT teams to resolve complex issues and identify root causes.
- Proactively manage system performance, availability, integrity, and security.
- Implement and maintain infrastructure solutions aligned with business and operational requirements.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance system reliability and efficiency.
Technical Environment (incl. but not limited to)
- Windows Server & Microsoft 365 (O365)
- VMware (virtualization)
- Veeam Backup solutions
- Kubernetes (cluster setup, NetApp environments)
- Microsoft Azure (Cloud technologies)
- End-to-end infrastructure setup and management
Required Profile
- Minimum 3+ years of experience in a similar System Engineer role.
- Strong knowledge of system administration and infrastructure management.
- Hands-on experience with at least one of the following:
- Virtualization (VMware)
- Backup solutions (Veeam)
- Kubernetes cluster setup (NetApp)
- Full infrastructure environment setup
- Windows environments / Microsoft 365
- Interest or experience in Cloud (Azure) and Kubernetes is a strong plus.
- Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating with cross-functional teams.
- Fluent in English and Dutch
