Structural/Mechanical Engineer (Python & Software Development)
We are seeking a Structural/Mechanical Engineer with strong programming skills in Python to support the development and migration of internal engineering calculation tools. The successful candidate will develop, test, and validate standardized software tools used company-wide to perform structural engineering calculations. These tools will replace existing Excel/VBA-based add-ins as part of a broader migration away from Microsoft 365 toward Python-based solutions.
Responsibilities
- Translate existing VBA/Excel calculation tools into Python-based applications.
- Develop and implement standardized engineering calculation software.
- Verify and validate tools to ensure accuracy and quality assurance compliance.
- Study and interpret existing engineering content and calculation methodologies.
- Support migration efforts, including temporary increased workload during transition.
- Provide long-term maintenance and improvements after migration phase.
- Contribute ideas and improvements to optimize the migration process.
Requirements
- Degree in Structural Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
- Strong Python programming skills.
- Proven experience with hand calculations and the use of FEM tools.
- Experience migrating or modernizing legacy engineering tools is a plus.
