Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced freelance Solution Architect to join a long-term project based in Brussels, Belgium. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, reviewing, and maintaining solution architectures that align with the client’s business objectives and technical standards. This is a hybrid position, offering up to 3 days of remote work per week, with a 12-month+ contract and an immediate start date.
Key Responsibilities
- Define, review, and maintain solution architectures across various projects, ensuring alignment with business goals and technical best practices.
- Design high-level technical and application architectures for .NET-based systems, APIs, and Angular frontends.
- Collaborate closely with business stakeholders to gather and translate requirements into effective and scalable technical solutions.
- Conduct architecture reviews of existing systems to identify improvement opportunities and drive modernization initiatives.
- Provide effort estimations and contribute to budget and planning for upcoming projects.
- Support development teams throughout project delivery, ensuring designs are implemented as intended.
Requirements (Qualifications / Skills & Experience)
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in a Solution Architect or similar role.
- Proven background in .NET application design and enterprise architecture.
- Strong understanding of API development, front-end frameworks (Angular preferred), and integration patterns.
- Ability to translate business needs into robust, scalable, and maintainable technical designs.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to engage with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Hands-on, pragmatic mindset with the ability to balance design and execution.
- Fluent in English (spoken and written).
Essential
- Strong experience in .NET architecture, API integration, and solution design.
- Proven track record of delivering architectural guidance in a complex, multi-project environment.
Desirable
- Experience within the financial services industry.
- Knowledge of cloud environments (Azure preferred).
- Familiarity with DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines.
