About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Software Engineer with deep experience in Python development, AWS cloud technologies, DevSecOps practices, and Atlassian toolsets for a 6-month contract supporting mission-critical government programs. This is a fully on-site role within secure facilities, requiring hands-on development and direct collaboration with cross-functional engineering teams.
The ideal candidate brings strong coding skills, secure development discipline, and experience operating in highly regulated DoD/IC environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain Python applications aligned with mission objectives and cybersecurity compliance requirements.
- Implement and manage DevSecOps pipelines, integrating secure automation, continuous integration, and continuous deployment workflows for both cloud and on-prem environments.
- Develop and support AWS-based solutions, ensuring secure, resilient, and scalable architectures adhering to DoD/IC cloud standards.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements, contribute to technical milestones, and deliver secure, high-quality software.
- Apply secure coding practices and ensure solutions meet relevant DoD, IC, RMF, and STIG/SRG requirements.
- Utilize Atlassian tools (Jira, Confluence, Bitbucket) for task tracking, documentation, and code management.
- Troubleshoot and optimize applications, pipelines, and cloud workloads for security, performance, and reliability.
- Support integration, testing, and deployment of cloud and on-prem systems in classified environments.
Required Qualifications
- Active TS/SCI with CI Polygraph (Mandatory).
- 5+ years of professional software engineering experience, with strong hands-on Python coding.
- Experience with AWS services (Lambda, ECS/EKS, S3, IAM, API Gateway, Terraform/CloudFormation, etc.).
- Demonstrated ability to build and operate secure DevSecOps pipelines with automated security scanning.
- Strong understanding of secure development practices, DoD/IC cybersecurity frameworks, and accreditation processes.
- Proficiency with Atlassian tools (Jira, Confluence, Bitbucket).
- Experience working in classified, hybrid cloud/on-prem environments.
- Must work on-site, 5 days per week at one of the listed locations.
- Excellent communication, documentation, and problem-solving capabilities.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting DoD, Intelligence Community, defense, or aerospace programs.
- Knowledge of:
- IaC tools (Terraform, CloudFormation)
- CI/CD tools (GitLab CI, Jenkins, AWS CodePipeline)
- Container technologies (Docker, Kubernetes)
- Automated security test tools (SAST, DAST, SCA, IaC scanning)
- Familiarity with Zero Trust, identity services, or cross-domain solutions.
