🚀 We’re Hiring: Freelance Site Manager – Substation (Utility-Scale Solar PV Project)
We are currently supporting the delivery of a large-scale utility-scale solar PV cluster project in Romania and are looking for 1 experienced Site Manager to lead the Substation phase of the project.
This is a long-term freelance opportunity for professionals with strong substation construction experience who want to work on a high-impact renewable energy project.
📍 Location: Bucharest (on-site)
📅 Start Date: 1st March
⏳ Duration: 12–24 months

🔧 Key Responsibilities (Substation-Focused)
- Lead and supervise on-site substation construction teams (Engineers, HSSE, QA/QC)
- Oversee daily substation construction activities and subcontractor installation works
- Ensure full compliance with Health & Safety and Quality standards (local & group)
- Review and contribute to substation design documentation (civil, electrical, protection & control)
- Monitor site progress, report to the Project Manager, and proactively address schedule risks
- Manage subcontractor performance, non-conformities, and contract compliance
- Coordinate delivery, installation, and commissioning readiness of substation equipment
- Verify quality and quantities of materials delivered to site
- Develop and implement the Project Quality Plan for substation works
- Manage site facilities and utilities to ensure smooth execution of substation activities
🎓 Requirements
- Degree or background in Electrical Engineering (Mechanical/Civil also considered)
- 3+ years’ experience delivering substation projects (HV/MV preferred)
- Experience working on utility-scale solar PV or renewable energy projects is an advantage
- Proven track record delivering complex infrastructure or energy projects
- Strong site coordination, leadership, and contractor management skills
💻 Technical Skills
- Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) – essential
- MS Project – advantageous
- AutoCAD (reviewing substation drawings and layouts) – a plus
