Freelance Role: ServiceNow ITOM Discovery Consultant (CMDB)

The Client
Our client is a major enterprise in the food industry, currently undergoing a ServiceNow ITOM transformation. They are looking to strengthen their CMDB and asset management capabilities by implementing a structured Discovery process across their hybrid IT landscape (on-prem, VMware, network, and cloud).
Your Role
As a ServiceNow Discovery Consultant, you’ll lead the technical delivery of ServiceNow Discovery, including planning, setup, stakeholder coordination, and knowledge transfer.
Key Responsibilities
- Run Discovery readiness workshops: scope, IP ranges, credentials, firewall paths
- Plan and deploy MID servers across locations
- Design the full Discovery lifecycle (Scan → Classify → Identify → Explore)
- Configure IRE rules, Data Manager flows, and schedules
- Integrate security & compliance (roles, ACLs, credential vaults like CyberArk)
- Manage hybrid discovery: on-premise (VMware, network devices) and cloud (AWS, Azure, GCP)
- Build dashboards, perform error triage, and support team training
- Align the CMDB with CSDM, define data quality controls and governance basics
Requirements
- 3+ years’ experience with ServiceNow ITOM Discovery or CMDB ownership
- Fluent in German and English
- Familiar with patterns vs probes and OOTB-first practices
- ServiceNow CSA / CIS-ITOM certifications are a plus
