Freelance ServiceNow Developer – Enterprise IT Environment

Location: Brussels Region, Belgium (2 days on-site, 3 days remote)

Start Date: ASAP
Contract Type: Freelance / Contract
Project Type: Long-term assignment (6 months+)

Our client is a leading organization operating in a complex enterprise IT environment, supporting critical business processes and digital workflows across multiple departments.

To strengthen their digital service management capabilities, the organization is expanding its ServiceNow platform team. The platform plays a central role in automating workflows, managing IT services, and improving user experience across the business.

The environment is collaborative and innovation-driven, with a strong focus on optimizing processes, enhancing usability, and delivering scalable ServiceNow solutions.


Role Overview

We are looking for a Freelance ServiceNow Developer to support the design, development, and optimization of the ServiceNow platform.

You will work closely with product owners, business analysts, and technical teams to build and enhance ServiceNow solutions, with a strong focus on UI Builder and ITSM modules.

This role requires both technical expertise and a solution-oriented mindset, as you will contribute to improving workflows, user interfaces, and platform integrations within a dynamic enterprise setting.


Key Responsibilities

1️⃣ ServiceNow Development & Configuration

Design, develop, and configure ServiceNow solutions aligned with business requirements.

Customize and extend ServiceNow modules, with a focus on ITSM processes.

Develop scalable and maintainable solutions using best practices.

Implement new features and enhance existing functionalities within the platform.

Ensure platform stability, performance, and maintainability.


2️⃣ UI Builder & User Experience

Develop and maintain modern user interfaces using UI Builder.

Improve user experience by designing intuitive and efficient interfaces.

Collaborate with stakeholders to translate business needs into UI solutions.

Optimize portal and workspace experiences within ServiceNow.

Ensure consistency in design and usability across the platform.


3️⃣ Workflow Automation & Integration

Design and implement workflows using Flow Designer and Business Rules.

Automate business processes to improve efficiency and reduce manual effort.

Integrate ServiceNow with external systems using REST/SOAP APIs.

Work with IntegrationHub and middleware solutions where required.

Support data synchronization and system interoperability.


4️⃣ Platform Support & Continuous Improvement

Troubleshoot and resolve platform-related issues.

Perform root cause analysis and implement sustainable fixes.

Support upgrades, patching, and platform enhancements.

Contribute to continuous improvement of development standards and processes.

Ensure documentation of solutions and technical configurations.


5️⃣ Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement

Work closely with business stakeholders to gather and refine requirements.

Collaborate with cross-functional IT teams (infrastructure, applications, security).

Provide technical guidance and best practices within the ServiceNow ecosystem.

Participate in Agile/Scrum ceremonies and development cycles.


Required Experience & Skills

3+ years of experience as a ServiceNow Developer in enterprise environments.

Strong experience with ServiceNow ITSM module (Incident, Problem, Change, Request).

Hands-on experience with UI Builder and ServiceNow Workspaces.

Proficiency in JavaScript, Glide API, and ServiceNow scripting.

Experience with Flow Designer, Business Rules, Script Includes, and Client Scripts.

Experience with Service Portal and/or Next Experience UI.

Knowledge of REST/SOAP integrations and API development.

Familiarity with IntegrationHub and MID Server configurations.

Understanding of CMDB, Discovery, and Asset Management is a plus.

Experience with Agile methodologies (Scrum/Kanban).

ServiceNow certifications (CSA, CAD) are a strong plus.


Language Requirements

English: Required (professional level)
Dutch: Nice to have
