Senior/Principal Planner

We are a dynamic and forward-thinking planning consultancy with a proven track record of delivering high-quality planning solutions across residential, commercial, infrastructure, and mixed-use developments. Our diverse client base ranges from major developers and landowners to local authorities and public sector organisations.

As part of our continued growth, we are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior or Principal Town Planner to join our team. You will play a key role in delivering planning advice, leading projects, mentoring junior staff, and helping grow client relationships.


🔍 Key Responsibilities

  • Lead complex planning applications, appeals, site appraisals, and development strategies across multiple sectors

  • Manage projects from inception to delivery, ensuring deadlines and budgets are met

  • Provide expert planning advice to clients, stakeholders, and multidisciplinary teams

  • Contribute to business development by maintaining and growing client relationships

  • Review and prepare reports, including planning statements, design and access statements, and EIA submissions

  • Represent clients at planning committees, hearings, and public consultations

  • Support and mentor junior team members, contributing to team development and knowledge sharing

  • Keep up to date with changes in planning legislation, policy, and local authority practices


Candidate Requirements

  • RTPI-accredited degree and MRTPI chartership (essential)

  • Minimum 3+ years’ experience in a planning consultancy, local authority, or developer environment

  • Proven track record managing planning applications and leading client relationships

  • Strong knowledge of the UK planning system and current policy landscape

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Commercially astute, with the ability to manage budgets and spot new opportunities

  • Highly organised, self-motivated, and able to work both independently and collaboratively
