About the Company:
We are working with a well-established and progressive transport and infrastructure consultancy based in Manchester. The firm has a strong presence across the North West and a growing national profile, delivering transport planning and development infrastructure advice on major residential, mixed-use, commercial, and regeneration schemes.

Due to a strong pipeline of development-led work, the consultancy is looking to appoint a Transport Planner or Senior Transport Planner with proven development planning experience to join its expanding Manchester team.

This is an excellent opportunity to work on high-profile projects across Greater Manchester and the wider North of England, within a collaborative and well-respected consultancy environment.

The Role:
As a Senior Transport Planner, you will play a key role in supporting and leading the transport planning elements of development projects, from early feasibility and pre-application stages through to planning approval.

You will work closely with developers, planning consultants, local planning authorities, and highway authorities, providing clear, robust, and commercially focused transport advice to support successful planning outcomes.

The role offers strong technical exposure, client interaction, and clear opportunities for career progression.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare Transport Assessments, Transport Statements, Travel Plans, and technical notes to support planning applications.

  • Provide transport planning advice at feasibility, pre-application, and application stages for development projects.

  • Liaise with local planning authorities, highway authorities, and statutory consultees across Greater Manchester and the North West.

  • Undertake and review junction capacity assessments and traffic modelling outputs.

  • Support negotiations relating to planning conditions, S106 agreements, and highway mitigation measures.

  • Coordinate with planners, engineers, and other technical specialists within multidisciplinary teams.

  • Manage project inputs, budgets, and deadlines effectively.

  • Keep up to date with local and national transport and planning policy.

About You:
We are seeking a transport planning professional with:

  • A degree in Transport Planning, Civil Engineering, Geography, or a related discipline.

  • Experience working on UK development planning projects within a consultancy or local authority environment.

  • A strong understanding of the UK planning system and transport evidence requirements.

  • Experience preparing Transport Assessments and engaging with highway authorities.

  • Knowledge of junction modelling software (e.g. Junctions 9, LinSig, VISSIM – desirable but not essential).

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • The ability to manage projects and build strong client relationships.

  • A proactive, commercially aware, and solutions-driven mindset.

Why Join This Company?
This is a fantastic opportunity to join a respected consultancy that offers:

  • A competitive salary and comprehensive benefits package.

  • Clear and structured progression to Senior, Principal, and Associate levels.

  • Flexible and hybrid working arrangements.

  • A supportive, collaborative team culture within a growing Manchester office.

  • Ongoing professional development and support towards professional accreditation.

  • The opportunity to work on high-profile development and regeneration projects across Manchester, the North West, and beyond.
