We are looking for an experienced Senior Planning Officer to join a local authority West of Glasgow on a temporary contract. This is an excellent opportunity for a planning professional who enjoys working in a busy and varied environment, contributing to the delivery of an effective and high-performing planning service within a beautiful part of the country.
The successful candidate will take responsibility for managing a caseload of planning applications, appeals, and pre-application enquiries, providing high-quality professional advice and recommendations. You will prepare clear and accurate reports, contribute to planning committee decisions, and work closely with colleagues, applicants, agents, and the public to deliver an efficient and transparent planning process.
You will also play a key role in supporting the authority’s local and strategic planning objectives, ensuring that all work is carried out in accordance with relevant legislation, policy, and procedures.
Requirements
The ideal candidate will have previous experience working as a Planning Officer or Senior Planning Officer within a local authority setting, with a strong understanding of UK planning legislation, policy, and procedures. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential, as is the ability to manage competing priorities and deliver results to tight deadlines.
Membership of the RTPI, or eligibility for membership, would be an advantage.
Additional Information
This role offers hybrid working, with flexibility between office attendance and remote work. Hours can range between 20 and 35 per week, and the initial contract will run for three months with potential for extension. The rate of pay is up to £40-45 per hour, depending on experience.
