About the Role
I’m currently working with a well-established planning consultancy that is looking to hire a Planner or Senior Planner to join their Manchester office. This is a fantastic opportunity to work across a diverse portfolio of projects, including residential, commercial, mixed-use, and regeneration schemes.
This role would suit an ambitious planner who’s looking to take the next step in their career within a collaborative and supportive environment.
Key Responsibilities
In this position, you will:
- Provide planning advice across a wide range of development projects
- Prepare, review, and manage planning applications, appeals, and supporting documentation
- Carry out site appraisals, planning research, and policy analysis
- Draft Planning Statements, Design and Access Statements, and other technical reports
- Liaise with local planning authorities, statutory consultees, and key stakeholders
- Support or lead project teams to deliver projects on time and in line with commercial objectives
- Stay up to date with planning policy and legislative changes
For Senior Planner level, you will also:
- Lead smaller projects or manage client accounts with minimal supervision
- Take ownership of planning applications and appeals, including developing strategy
- Mentor and support junior team members
- Contribute to business development and help build client relationships
Candidate Profile
I’m keen to speak with candidates who have:
- A degree in Town Planning or a related discipline
- Are working towards (Planner) or already hold (Senior Planner) MRTPI membership
- Experience within a planning consultancy, local authority, or similar environment
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- A solid understanding of the UK planning system and policy
- The ability to manage workloads effectively and work well within a team
Desirable experience:
- Exposure to projects in the North West or wider North of England
- Experience with appeals or major development schemes
- Confidence in client-facing situations
