About the Role

We are looking for a Planner or Senior Planner to join our Manchester office. The role offers the opportunity to work on a variety of development projects, including residential, commercial, mixed-use, and regeneration schemes. The successful candidate will contribute to high-quality planning advice, working closely with clients, local authorities, and stakeholders to achieve successful outcomes.

This role is ideal for an ambitious planner seeking to progress their career in a collaborative and supportive consultancy environment.

Key Responsibilities

Planner / Senior Planner responsibilities include:

  • Providing planning advice on a diverse range of development projects

  • Preparing, reviewing, and managing planning applications, appeals, and supporting documents

  • Conducting site appraisals, planning research, and policy analysis

  • Drafting Planning Statements, Design and Access Statements, and other technical reports

  • Liaising with local planning authorities, statutory consultees, and other stakeholders

  • Supporting or leading project teams to ensure timely and commercially focused outcomes

  • Keeping up-to-date with changes in planning policy and legislation

Additional responsibilities at Senior Planner level:

  • Leading smaller projects or client accounts with limited supervision

  • Taking ownership of planning applications and appeals, including strategy development

  • Mentoring junior team members

  • Contributing to business development and client relationship management

Candidate Profile

Essential:

  • Degree in Town Planning or a related discipline

  • Working towards (Planner) or holding (Senior Planner) MRTPI membership

  • Relevant experience within a planning consultancy, local authority, or similar environment

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Good understanding of the UK planning system and planning policy

  • Ability to manage workloads effectively and work collaboratively in a team

Desirable:

  • Experience with planning projects in the North West or wider North of England

  • Appeal experience or involvement in major development schemes

  • Confident in client-facing situations
