Senior Planner – CPO & Urban Regeneration

Location: Manchester (Hybrid Working)
Salary: Competitive, DOE + Benefits
Type: Permanent, Full-time

The Opportunity

I am working with a leading planning consultancy in Manchester seeking a Senior Planner with expertise in CPO and urban regeneration projects. This is a high-profile, client-facing role, ideal for an experienced planner who wants to work on complex regeneration schemes, major redevelopment projects, and strategic land acquisitions.

You will have the opportunity to lead planning workstreams, advise on CPO processes, and contribute to transformative urban projects that shape cities across the North West and UK.

The Role

As a Senior Planner, your focus will be on delivering strategic planning advice and managing projects relating to CPO, regeneration, and major development schemes. You will work closely with clients, developers, local authorities, and stakeholders to secure planning approvals and support complex land assembly.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading and managing planning projects, with a focus on CPO, regeneration, and strategic land development

  • Advising clients on CPO strategy, negotiation, and planning risk

  • Preparing planning statements, supporting reports, representations, and submissions to public inquiries

  • Coordinating multidisciplinary teams, including legal, transport, and environmental consultants

  • Engaging with local authorities, statutory consultees, and key stakeholders

  • Representing clients at meetings, public consultations, and planning committees

  • Supporting junior team members and mentoring graduates and assistant planners

  • Contributing to business development opportunities and fee proposals

  • Keeping up to date with urban regeneration policy, CPO legislation, and planning best practice

Candidate Profile

  • Degree in Town Planning or related discipline

  • MRTPI qualified or working towards

  • Typically 5+ years’ experience, with demonstrable experience in CPO and urban regeneration projects

  • Strong knowledge of the UK planning system, including CPO legislation and urban regeneration frameworks

  • Proven ability to manage complex planning projects and client relationships

  • Commercially aware, proactive, and confident in stakeholder engagement

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
