Senior Mechanical Design Engineer – Amsterdam (2 days on-site, 3 days off-site) – 12 months
A client of ours is seeking a detail-oriented Mechanical Design Engineer to join their medical device development team. In this role, you will contribute to the design, prototyping, and development of life-enhancing and life-saving medical technologies, including surgical tools, diagnostic devices, and wearable health systems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design mechanical components for medical devices using SolidWorks.
- Work on tolerance analysis, material selection, and DFMA for plastic injection molding or micro-mechanical systems.
- Support prototyping, bench testing, and design verification/validation activities.
- Collaborate with electrical engineers and clinical experts to ensure usability and safety.
- Interface with suppliers and contract manufacturers to optimize cost, quality, and reliability.
- Stay up-to-date with emerging technologies in digital health, wearables, and minimally invasive systems.
Qualifications:
- 3-7 years of experience in mechanical/product design, ideally within the medical device, biotech, or healthcare industry.
- Proficiency using SolidWorks.
- Strong understanding of mechanical design for precision and human interaction.
- Hands-on experience with prototyping and iterative development.
- Fluency in English: Dutch is plus
