Job Title: Senior Accountant (Freelance / Interim – Temp to Perm)
Location: Aalst (Hybrid – 2 days remote: Wednesday & Friday)

About the Role
An international company is seeking an experienced Senior Accountant on a freelance interim basis due to the upcoming departure of the current accountant. As no permanent replacement will be available in the short term, this role is critical to ensure continuity of the accounting function.
The assignment is expected to start in mid-February and may evolve into a temp-to-perm opportunity depending on mutual fit and business needs.
You will report directly to the Finance Manager and take ownership of the full accounting cycle.
Key Responsibilities
Manage and oversee the full accounting cycle
Perform monthly closings and related reporting activities
Handle daily accounting operations
Process and manage supplier invoicing (AP)
Manage Accounts Receivable (AR) and follow-up
Maintain and control General Ledger (GL)
Prepare and submit VAT declarations
Ensure accuracy, compliance, and timely financial records
Work closely with the Finance Manager during the transition period
Systems & Tools
Experience with Navision is required
Profile Requirements
Proven experience as a Senior Accountant
Strong hands-on knowledge of GL, AP, and AR
Solid understanding of Belgian VAT
Able to work autonomously and take ownership quickly
Dutch: fluent
English: professional working proficiency
French: not required
No specific industry background required
