Rent and Service Charge Manager

This role involves managing and evolving a comprehensive rent and service charge function for a large housing organisation and its subsidiaries, ensuring compliance, financial planning, and budget control. The position is primarily focused on service charges but will also provide support for rent-related functions when necessary.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and mentor the service charge team, while also providing coverage for the rent function when needed.
  • Ensure accurate financial recording of service charge income and expenditure, performing detailed variance analysis, and preparing reports for statutory accounts, auditors, and internal stakeholders such as the Board, Committees, and Executive teams.
  • Oversee the preparation of data for large-scale rent and service charge communication with customers, ensuring timely distribution.
  • Monitor and analyse monthly management accounts related to service charges, aligning with budgets and forecasts, and identifying any necessary corrective actions.
  • Offer expert guidance on rent and service charge matters, providing advice and reporting across the organisation.
  • Stay up-to-date with and implement changes in legislation and regulations affecting rent and service charges, while engaging with external networks to integrate best practices.
