About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Quality Engineer to join a major construction project near Sofia, Bulgaria. This is a freelance/self-employed position for a 12-month contract, with a targeted start before Christmas 2025.
Key Responsibilities
Ensure all construction activities meet applicable quality standards and specifications
Monitor and implement quality control procedures across the project
Coordinate with project managers, contractors, and stakeholders to ensure compliance with local and international quality requirements
Conduct site inspections, audits, and reporting
Support documentation and resolution of quality issues throughout the construction lifecycle
Collaborate with engineering and site teams to continuously improve quality processes
Requirements
Native Bulgarian speaker with fluent English communication skills (written and verbal)
Solid knowledge of Bulgarian quality standards and regulatory requirements
Proven experience on large-scale construction projects
Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, international environment
Strong attention to detail and a problem-solving mindset
Additional Information

Full-time commitment for the duration of the project
Must be based locally or able to commute to the site near Sofia
