– Overseeing the day-to-day financial management and reporting of the public health budget, making recommendations for contracting with service providers, monitoring performance, and ensuring outcomes align with budgetary constraints.
– Managing a substantial portfolio of commissioned public health services, ensuring their relevance to Council residents and stakeholders. This includes setting budgets, monitoring performance against key performance indicators (KPIs), and ensuring cost-effectiveness, encompassing a significant division of the Public Health Budget.
– Providing specialised knowledge and support in public health to facilitate the strategic integration of healthy public policy thinking and practices across the Council and partner agencies. The aim is to influence broader determinants of health and address inequalities.
– Crafting public health strategies and plans, involving strategy formulation, commissioning plans, service development, business planning, reports, and engaging with customers and clients.
– Establishing and sustaining effective connections between the public health agenda and strategies related to broader determinants of health, such as those related to housing, environmental health, sustainability, and community safety.
– Offering expert information and advice to Council members and officers regarding healthy public policy and its impact on health. This entails maintaining an expert level of knowledge and understanding in the main area(s) of responsibility.
– Managing business support staff in the public health domain to facilitate the above functions.
