A lot of the responsibilities include but are not limited to:
To manage projects from inception to financial completion by integrating both specialist in-house officers and consultants to ensure the programme and financial cost limits are strictly adhered to
To provide advice and guidance to client departments in evaluating customer needs, preparation of client briefs for the Council’s capital and major works programmes, e.g., education capital and maintenance programmes, corporate programmed maintenance programme, Equality Act works programme, ad-hoc capital projects, etc. and to carry out feasibility studies where necessary.
Responsibility for the management and monitoring of the construction budget for numerous individual concurrent projects ranging in value from £10,000 to £30Million, ensuring that projects are delivered within strict financial cost/budgetary limits and that best value is achieved for the Council, reporting to senior management as required.
To manage and implement the construction contract for individual projects, ensuring compliance with contract documentation, protecting the Council from exposure to any breach of contract and the financial implications of the same. Provide advice in respect of contract documentation to other officers within the Council with regards construction related procurement.
Regular attendance on site for numerous concurrent construction projects to conduct site inspections, supervision of contractors and consultants, monitoring and managing progress and attendance at and leading site meetings as required.
